Messages Page
People all over the world e-mailed messages of support for our
grassroots communications volunteers working for the survival of
their rural communities. We had ambitiously hoped to establish global
on-line communication during the conference (maybe next time).
Actually, my personal favourite message came from Maja van der
Velden of Norway, who said she would have loved to attend but she
was too pregnant to fly.
Also we didn't have the Newspaper Wall set up at the conference or
we would have had more messages like the one posted by Damian
Meade of Placentia in the conference newsletter. "Thank you to Lori
Foley for putting me up for the weekend. And her daughter for giving
up her room. The bed was very comfortable."
Thank You
Thanks to all participants who braved the storm and brought their
enthusiasm and personal skills. Thank you to the facilitators who
helped prove you can run a successful conference with practically no
money. Thanks to the students and staff of Westviking College. Thank
you, Kevin Brake of Western Regional Telecentre and Stephen Lee of
The Georgian. And thanks to all the musicians, especially Les Gars du Ti
Jardin, who drove in for the Saturday night broadcast. Thank you
Regional Cable. And a quiet round of applause for the Communciation
for Survival volunteers, the Long Range Regional Economic
Development Board and Westviking College, for sponsoring the event.
Who did we forget?
