CGI:
Common Gateway Interface
Do you have to know anything about CGIs to use a web board? No.
For Ryakuga, CGIs are important beacuse they allow us to set up a website that is an interactive rather than just a passive, consumer experience.
When you post your message on the web board, you actually trigger a program to run on the web server itself.
Matt Wright was a teenager in Illinois when he wrote the CGI program - WWWBOARD. In 1995 he created Matt's Script Archive - a collection of freeware CGI programs.
In 1998 he and Craig Patchett wrote The CGI/Perl Cookbook, which is a compendium of CGI programs and information.
