May Report

On May 11th, I went in to the Crosswinds Resort for SOF. I really enjoyed this get together. It was something new for me. It was great just to meet the people involved and it was also very informative. These sessions are very beneficial to the group. It gives everyone a chance to talk about what everyone else is doing and to get new ideas.

On May 14th, myself and Marg took eleven youth down to Burgeo for a forum. This was a great experience for the group. They had a wonderful time with the youth from Burgeo. They would also like to get the group to come to Burnt Islands for a forum. They would like to show them their town now and entertain them for a couple of days. The teachers at Grandy's River Collegiate said that the school was all of a buzz about the trip to Burgeo when they got back. Hopefully they'll get to visit us next time.

June Report

Students are quite busy getting ready for exams. Everyone's got a tummy ache worrying if the exams are going to be hard or not. We still managed to find some time to plan events for the summer.

On June 25th, we hired our students on for the summer. On that day, three of our youth met with Jesse and a couple of people from the Philippines Advisory Group. They did some filming and gave them some information about the fishing and history of out town. Jesse said that they did a great job. I know that the youth enjoyed spending some time with them. It was a great experience for them to meet people from another country, and it is something that will most likely stay with them for years to come.
