Hi there everyone from Val and Marie. This is actually our first joint
message (Marie's first ever!). Marie is going to tell you all about the
programming at BBS and I am going to type it for her. So here goes...
BBS has a weekly news program called "This Week in Review." It airs on
Sunday niights at 8:30 p.m. and is hosted, produced and directed by yours
truly....Marie. It covers all the exciting events that happen in Burgeo.
Public demonstrations, local happenings, Lions's events, school activities,
interviews with local people, politicians, etc., public interest stories,
and anything else the commuity would like/need to knw about.
BBS also has a weekly children's program called "Pansy's Garden." This is
also Marie's baby...not literally. It is done by 5 of the teen volunteers.
They switch, film, direct, etc. At the program we do crafts, read stories,
talk to Pansy the Panda Bear. We discuss a number, letter, colour and shape
at each show. It airs twice a week - Sat at 11 a.m. and Tuesdays at 7:30
p.m.
Bandwagon - an entertainment program. We invite locals with musical and
singing abilities to the studio to perform. This happens every second Sunday
after the news. As a point of interest, it isn't only men who participate,
young people including teenage girls have been on the program. This is done
almost entirely by teen volunteers.
Once a month we do "Religious Revelations". We go from Anglican to united to
RC and tape the church service. This is aired on Sunday nights at 6:30 p.m.
We air PSA's for organizations like War Amps, Ground Search and Rescue, the
RCMP and the Fire Department.
Daily we manage a "bulletin board" on Channel 10 that lists for sale,
wanteds, job listings, lost and found, meetings, miscellaneous items that is
of interest to locals. Actually, many times people just leave their tv on
whith this channel scrolling because the messages are updated throughout the
day. This is a free service that also tells you the temperature, time and
gives updates on the condition of our road (which we all need to know!)
BBs also has other programs or interviews that it airs in entirety even
though some parts may have been seen on the news. Many times people want to
see all of the program/taping. (e.g. school concerts, local speak-off).
Is this enough information?????? We can't think of anything else to tell
you. BBS has lots going on...now you know why Marie hasn't had time to post
a message before!
Well, we're off now. We each have to get back to our real jobs...Bye for
now.
