Charlene Gagnon comes to Ryakuga with an extensive background in social
media. With seven years experience as a researcher and practitioner, she
has presented to local, national and international audiences on using
social media for community organization; identity management; small
business networking, and academic knowledge dissemination.
As an independent social researcher and policy advisor,
Charlene has worked on studies and reports in the areas of crime and
public safety; poverty-reduction; health and homelessness; special education;
rural economic development in NS, and affordable housing.
She owns a weekend bookstore in Dartmouth, NS

Charlene has worked with Ryakuga in 2006 on the Musquodobit Harbour
Equity and Technology Radio Broadcast; in 2007 on the Wolfville
Equity and Technology Radio Broadcast; and in 2011 on the
Fredericton Social Economy Radio Project.
She is currently writing a Ryakuga report on combining social media
and community radio as participatory communications.
